Why a drifting mast is an out-of-service question
A mast that settles under load is not a “watch it” condition. OSHA’s standard requires a truck found to be in need of repair, defective, or in any way unsafe to be taken out of service until restored to safe operating condition, and repairs must be made by authorized personnel. Report the drift, park the truck, and describe what you saw — the provider and the employer’s own safety process make the return-to-service decision at the truck.
